task 9 – Journalist

Hi! I am Ana García the journalist of the last week.

Now, I am going to explain our last activity in the subject School organization and educational resources.

On, Monday when we arrived to the class and Linda explain us what we were going to do this week I thought that it would be the most difficult of the course. However, when Linda said that we had to read the two articles in Spanish I felt calmer. But, when we started to think what relations we could do I start to feel so stress because firstly we didn´t understand without doubts the complexity. Our facilitator Alicia divided the work in order to explain each other our part of complexity, so later we understood it better.

On Tuesday, we met when we finished the lessons we start to explain our kind of complexity and when we had all the relations we did the mind map in the mind meister.

On Wednesday, the last day of the last presentation, our brilliant stars presented our relations in a poster, like TPACK, to all the groups. They felt nervous because other groups found a lot of relations. Fortunately, Linda liked it and she said us what we could improve. Thank you so much stars.

In my opinion, this year with Linda had been so gratifying because now I can make things that I would never think that I was going to do. Also, my peers, the Tuttifruties, had been so keen with me because I am a little forgetful… I started with them this long road and I am going to finish with them. Thank you too for make me feel well in spite being far of my family.  But the IMG_2989IMG_29942f613ecfce668099c48b45d96b985eba46e96e43dbb4c9686a7aed17a44e714cbest is going to arrive… the oral exam, we are going to prepare the best!!!!!

Leadership styles

This week the task was about “leadership styles”. What we had to do in this activity was to imagine that we were going to be a headmaster of a school, so we had to choose the context of the school and one of the styles of leadership that was better for the situation of that school. Then we had to prepare a kind of campaign to present it to the rest of our partners.

On Monday, we read the article of the different kind of leadership. After that we thought in a context of one school and then we select the best option for the situation of that school. Our star this week is Inma, so she was going to be our candidate.

On Tuesday, after class, we stayed in the university to continue working. We thought in the way that we are going to present our campaign on Wednesday. We decided to make pin with a logo of an apple-heart, and pamphlets with the measures that we were going to present for our candidate. We also did some pennants and two big posters.

On Wednesday the headmaster of each group had to present her candidature to the rest of the class in ten minutes. They couldn´t say the style that they were using, the rest had to guess. Our star, Inma, after working hard, she did it very well.

In general all the groups did it very well, each one with their ideas, and it was a funny class, and a funny way to learn.

Comment in a blog

I have chosen this blogpost http://telepatetico.blogspot.com.es  because I think that it is too interesting. Although it is in Spanish, everybody should take a look on that because Spanish tv programs are worst day by day.

Recording Fourth millennium

Hello guys, this week has been one of the best weeks of this year. We had to record our stories as if we were in a tv program. We chose the Spanish tv program called «Cuarto milenio» because we thought that it is the best for representing our story, which was about a «strange» case of a teacher that makes more interesting her classes. Her methodology was doing some excursions, collecting stones or flower for science, doing Skype with people from other country…

On Monday, our group was composed all the members of tuttifruties, Mari from Fluffy Guardians and Felix, Jamal and James from The Prickles.  We decided the wardrobe, the script and the stage. After that, through a casting, where there were two roles on the line, we decided that the presenters of the program would be Jamal as Iker and Felix as Carmen. After that, we did another one in order to choose the teacher, who would be Teresa Abad.  Our camera assistant was María, who has done a good job this week as the facilitator. The rest of us would be children.

On Wednesday it was the time for the recording. At first time we had a problem because other groups were going to record in the same room as we wanted, but Maria, our facilitator, found another classroom. Felix dressed up as a woman, so girls helped him with the make-up, the wig and the dress. The result was so funny!

We decorated the table similar as the original program and I have to admit that it was a little bit scary. We made a lot of takes because we laughed a lot, it was inevitable, and also sometimes the presenters made little mistakes. When we finished recording the fist scene, then was the turn of the interview to Teresa. Again we had to film a lot of takes because of laughs and little mistakes. But the final result was excellent!

Then, children and their teacher were recorded in the museum of the university as if they were in an excursion, then we did the same next to the faculty, in the woods we were recorded while we were collecting some stones and flowers with the teacher. While we were recording Jose, from other group, wanted to record with us that scene so he did it.

Finally, we went to a computer lab in order to film some scenes as if we were talking with other guys from other country through Skype.

I want to say thanks to all the components of this group because I have enjoyed and learn a lot and without them it would not be possible.

BBC school report – TV news

When we were doing our task this week I looked for inspiration on the Internet and some tips and ideas for our project because I had never done something like that before. That how I found this beautiful idea from BBC, exactly what we were doing, of promoting journalism and relationships on school by making a tv news broadcast.

This was really useful for me because it gave me some tips for the final product.

Firstly, it talks about the planning of the story, what you’re going to talk about, the way you’ll develop everything, and helps you by making some questions (what? When? How?…). Then, it gives you some tips about filming and finally gives you some general indications and instructions to follow for safety and equipment.

I think that those kind of programmes are necessary, because as I’ve learned this week, it’s very important for children to learn to work in big groups and cooperate, depend on others work and learn to deal with responsibilities, as that’s what they’ll find when they get older in their work, studies, or general life. And the fact that such an important communication media known worldwide makes something like this to reinforce the power of cooperative work in schools is really good.

Frisky Hedgegogs: complexity

For this week’s blogs review I’ve chosen the analyst section from my classmates, the frisky Hedgegogs. Why this one? Because I think it’s really good presented and analyst sections are something I really like and enjoy, as it’s about reflections and makes you think deeper on what the real meaning of each task is.

I liked this one because it includes good external quotes, and they reference everything in the right way. Also, it was useful for me in a sense that it helped me understand better complexity theory, because it’s really complete and it explained really well the relationship between this week’s task (to show) and last week (complexity and relationships). The way we’ve worked relates a lot to that, as we’ve had to help each other but each one hasf a different role. I mean, we couldn’t have done it without the connections between the different parts (actors and editors, directors and cameras etc.)

Taking that, I’ve also seen their blog and I liked how well organised and structured it is. However, if I had to change something it would be the design, as it’s not very modern and catchy. Anyway, I really liked it.

Finally, I would like to make an special thanks to Jose from their group for taking the responsability of being such a good class manager and editor. Not everyone would have accepted that!

A week on a tv show

The first day we divided the roles in a different way, as the facilitator (Teresa) was already chosen, because she was last week’s star. As from previous week, there were two different groups on the class: editors and stars.

Editors, on one hand, were divided in 8 groups, one for coordinating each new or section, and other two for the music and tv set design. In each group there was a facilitator to control the work, based on making a schedule for the new, the set up of it and the actors for it, for which there was a casting manager. Finally, we choose all of the actors (two presenters, reporters and children), the scenario (a table with some coffee cups, like the American typical talk show, and a green background for putting some images on), the schedule for each new, the TelePrompTer and some details. We also made the editing team.

On the other hand, the actors were chosen and assigned a group, according to the new they would participate in. In each group, they were told what they exactly had to do the next day.

Then, on Tuesday we made the newspaper with our last week’s news. As I know more about editing, I was the one to shape it. On the other hand, according to the to programme, we choose the manager, who was Jose, and he choose his coordinators, which among I was, to edit the final video.

The next day it was finally the recording and everything was ready. Jose did a quick meeting with the directors of each group and coordinators in order to decide which camera brand we were going to use for all videos to have the same resolution and to give us some details. After that, each group went to a different location to record with the director and the coordinator to see the details and ask questions about the final editing of each part. The actors wore their assigned clothes (in my case the gypsies) and the recording process was finally really funny (and long, almost 20 videos failed!). When we finished, each group downloaded its videos to Jose’s computer and we went home.

Also, Linda told us that we had won the contest of the video so yeah, we’ll have an aperitif in the cantina!

However, you’ll have to wait until monday to see the final result! Hope you enjoy it as much as we did doing it!

Blog of Complexity theory

Although I have found a Spanish blog because I didn’t find one in English, I think that it is appropriate and really interesting. It is a blog of a man named Miguel Angel, he published it last month.

I have to say that he is right in all that he wrote. Teaching is a difficult action when you depends on the government, the scholar centre… Teachers work with difficult materials as feelings, ideas and knowledge. Children use to expect a lot of things of us, they want to learn by their self. He criticized that many people tend to think that teaching is simple and an easy work, it really angry me because they talk and they don’t know what exactly it comprehends. I think that the majority of the people depend on teachers, with them they learn things that they know and it is the start of their careers. A doctor can´t be a doctor if a teacher does not teach him.
